Our Story
Some jewelry stores sell you a ring. At Mead Jewelers, we'd rather earn a place in your family's story.
We've been doing exactly that since 1968. What began as a small jewelry store has grown into northwest Oklahoma's home for custom design, fine engagement rings, and expert jewelry repair. Two generations of the Mead family have stood behind the counter, and a lot of the customers who walk through our door today are the children and grandchildren of the people we served decades ago.
In 2019, we brought the business to Enid, and we've been proud to call it home ever since. Families who first found us in Woodward still make the drive to see us, and we don't take that loyalty for granted. It's the reason we treat every piece that crosses our counter like it belongs to someone we know, because usually it does.
Designed With You
Mead's signature service is custom design, and it's the part of the work we love most. Owner Jay Mead is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and a bench jeweler, so the person helping you choose a diamond is also the person who finishes the ring and sets the stone.
Here's how it works. Our designer, Ivy, sits down with you and listens to the story you're trying to tell. That conversation becomes a hand-drawn concept, then a 3D rendering you can hold up and react to before anything is made. Once you love the design, it's crafted by the trusted manufacturing partners we've worked with for years, and then it comes home to Jay's bench, where he sets your stones and finishes the piece by hand before it ever reaches your finger.
We don't quote a one-size-fits-all price, because no two custom pieces are alike. Instead, we build to your budget. You tell us what matters most and what you're comfortable spending, and we design something beautiful inside it. Some of our favorite pieces have started with a customer saying, "I didn't think I could afford something like this." Our diamonds are conflict free, and whether you want a natural diamond, a lab-grown stone, or a family heirloom reimagined into something you'll actually wear, we'll walk you through every option, including what each one costs, so you can decide with confidence and no pressure.
More Than New Rings
A jeweler should be there for the whole life of a piece, not just the day you buy it. At our own bench we size and repair rings, retip and rebuild worn prongs, reset and tighten stones, restring pearls, engrave, and rhodium plate. We replace watch batteries while you wait, and we send watch repairs to trusted specialists. We also buy gold and diamonds, offer financing, and help you protect what you own with appraisals and jewelry insurance.
If you've ever inherited a ring you love but never wear, bring it in. Turning yesterday's sentimental piece into something you'll reach for every day is one of our favorite things to do.
